Department of Landscape Architecture Scholarships

Funding Resources

There are many ways to fund your education. The application process, deadlines, and special requirements vary with each funding source. It is recommended that all students apply for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Grants, loans, work study, graduate employment (GE), and some scholarships are available.

Departmental Funding

The Department of Landscape Architecture offers scholarships to incoming and current students. Scholarships are both merit and need based. Scholarships for incoming students are awarded based on the recommendation of the BLA application committee with department head approval. Scholarships for continuing students are awarded based on the recommendation of the department’s scholarship committee with department head approval. Current students must apply to be considered for departmental scholarships in the coming academic year. Please note that not all scholarship funds are available each year.

University Funding

The Office of International Affairs has scholarships available to international students. Learn more at OIA’s International Student and Scholar Services for information about eligibility and deadlines. Information on funding sources for international students is also available through UO Admissions.

External Funding Sources

There are many external scholarships, fellowships, and grants available to landscape architecture students. Some examples include:

American Society of Landscape Architects: Maintains a national database of scholarships and fellowships, available to landscape architecture students.

Garden Club of America: Offers scholarships in landscape architecture as well as specialized fields within the discipline such as garden history and design, ecological restoration, and urban forestry. Deadlines, eligibility requirements, and funding amounts vary.

National Garden Clubs: Offers financial aid to students in fields of study related to horticulture and the environment. Links to state garden clubs have separate scholarships and awards.

Scholarships

Scholarships in the College of Design are open for application by students who are enrolled majors within any of our disciplines. A select number of scholarships within certain disciplines are available for application by students who are applying for admission to a Design program.

The more than 110 scholarships in our college have been made possible by donations from private parties, both individuals and business organizations. Many are provided by alumni who have been moved to give back, and who want to be part of helping to support students today as they earn their own degrees.

Check with the office staff in your school and with the Student Services office in 105 Lawrence Hall to learn more about what scholarships are currently available.
