As the Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design at the University of Oregon, I lead a team of dedicated educators and researchers who share my passion for creating sustainable, equitable, and healthy built environments. I have over 20 years of academic and professional experience in landscape architecture, urban design, and environmental science, with a PhD in Urban Studies and a MLA and BLA in Landscape Architecture.

My research and teaching focus on play, youth-inclusive design, and environmental justice, topics that are critical for addressing the emerging health disparities and social challenges facing adolescents in urban and rural settings. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, received prestigious awards and grants, and collaborated with interdisciplinary partners to advance the knowledge and practice of landscape architecture. I am also a first-generation college graduate from a health disparity population who strives to improve the quality of life for everyone through education and advocacy. At the University of Oregon, I have the opportunity to work with supportive colleagues, engage with diverse and talented students, and contribute to the college's mission of promoting environmental and social responsibility.
