The Fuller Initiative for Productive Landscapes was awarded an Honor Award in Small Budget/Big Impact Land Lab and/or Pro Bono and Green Ribbon Award by the ASLA Oregon Design Awards program on November 17, 2023. The jury recognized the initiative's work on the "Oregon Experience Laboratory", an installation that celebrated Oregon and used a mixed-reality application to engage users and activate the space. In July 2022, the World Athletic Championships (Oregon22) were held in Eugene. In preparation for this exclusive, high-profile event, the city completed a new riverfront park and bike path on the University of Oregon Riverfront, effectively creating a "front door" to the competition for guests walking or biking from downtown. Working with Travel Oregon, the team created seven interactive landscape installations that represented a different part of Oregon with an embedded panorama unlocked in the mixed-reality application. The overlay from the application afforded international guests the chance to see and experience the diversity of Oregon's landscapes and was accessible to those who spoke English as a second language. The 2023 winners were celebrated on November 17 at the ASLA Oregon Design Awards soirée.
