Urbanism Next's Work with Seattle's Department of Transportation Informs City's Priorities for Autonomous Vehicle Adoption

To prepare for robotaxis and other autonomous vehicles to become part of the city’s mobility options, the Seattle Department of Transportation established a working group last summer drawn from local communities. The group included people of color, those with disabilities, immigrants and low-income residents. The resulting report, published in April in conjunction with the Urbanism Next at the University of Oregon, outlines seven key priorities to help Seattle DOT adopt AV policies and strategies that address the needs of the city’s communities.

Metropolis 100 Winner and MIArch '25 Alexia Solis was recognized by "Metropolis" for their pier renovation design, a deteriorating industrial site in San Luis Obispo, California, in an article with other Metropolis 100 winners who submitted water-focused projects.

Kory Russel Wins Sustainability Award for Excellence in Teaching

Kory Russel's work was recognized by Office of the Provost's Teaching Engagement Program. This particular Sustainability Award recognizes faculty who have developed pedagogy and curriculum that reinforce and advance principles of sustainability through course design and instruction. Historic Preservation Program Comes Back to Eugene

After seven years at the University of Oregon Portland Campus, the Historic Preservation Program has returned to Eugene. The program, which is part of the School of Architecture and Environment from the College of Design, emphasizes hands-on learning and applying academic study to field-based preservation work.
