Program eligibility

The post-professional Master of Science in Interior Architecture is a research-focused degree that allows students to pursue advanced scholarly inquiry and design investigation, building on an undergraduate professional degree in interior design, interior architecture, architecture, or a related field.

Who Should Apply

This degree does not provide a path to licensure. This program is intended for applicants who:

  • Have a professional degree in Interior Design/Architecture or Architecture from a regionally accredited four‑year U.S. college or university, or
  • Possess an equivalent credential from a qualifying international institution

Priority Application Deadline: January 9

    • Late applications may be accepted on a space-available basis through May 1.
  • Application Decision: Decision letters are usually emailed by the end of February or shortly thereafter.

Note: If the application deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the following business day.

  • Application Questions
    1. Summary of Goals and Intent

      Describe your general academic and career goals and why you wish to attend the University of Oregon. Your ideas should be clear, specific, and persuasive.

    2. Research Statement of Intent

      Please describe the issues important to your research, potential questions for study or inquiry, the methods and materials you might use, and possible outcomes. Explain how your research area connects to select faculty you are interested in working with. The committee will use this statement to assess your ability to articulate an area of study and how it connects to the research expertise of the faculty and the department.
