Hector Rodriguez, AIA, NOMA is a Pro Tem instructor at the University of Oregon and Adjunct instructor of architecture at Woodbury University and East Los Angeles College. Hector's professional and applied research pursuits focus on housing innovation, particularly within the context of construction innovation,  long-term affordability and aging-in-place. As the Founder of Tecnico, Hector has advanced small- and middle-scale housing solutions, including 3D-printed homes, modular, and prefabricated housing. Notably, Tecnico was awarded a Grand Prize in the 2024 AIA Phoenix Metro + City of Phoenix ADU Design Competition. The entry, Otra Casa [Another House], was recognized for its innovative approach to construction, adaptability and aging-in-place features. The design is set to join the City of Phoenix's inaugural pre-approved ADU plans. 

Hector's goal as an educator is to cultivate critical thinking and empower students to meaningfully engage with local and global challenges, preparing them to be thought leaders in the field of architecture. He is deeply committed to fostering equity and diversity in our profession, as demonstrated through his involvement as a mentor with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA). 


Previously, Hector was the Project Manager at United Dwelling, managing the design, development, and execution of over 30 pre-manufactured modular ADUs. Prior, he was a designer at FSY Architects working on multiple 50+ unit 100% affordable housing projects. He also co-founded Office of: Office and Office of: People. 

Hector is a graduate of the University of Oregon (M.Arch, Housing Specialization) and Arizona State University (B.Arch), and is a registered architect in California.
