Four STEM-Designated Degrees

The department of Architecture has four degrees that are STEM-designated as 04.0902 Architectural and Building Sciences/Technology:

This STEM-designation and associated new Classification of Instructional Program code, or CIP, of 04.0902 allows our international graduates to apply for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s optional practical training (OPT) extension program for F-1 students with STEM degrees. Also, it extends our international students’ OPT period from 1 year to 3 years, thus making it easier for international students to find employment in the U.S.

OPT + STEM OPT Extension Details

The OPT + STEM OPT Extension application process for students and employers is managed through the UO’s International Student and Scholar Services office. Find OPT overview, details, workshop schedules, and information packets on the ISSS website.
